Organizing of Three Different Conferences Event Management
Question: Describe about the Organizing of Three Different Conferences for Event Management. Answer: Introduction Event management can be defined as the running, co-ordination and planning of teams, features and people. Many business look for professional who have experience in the event organizing field to help them create successful meetings and conferences. An event managers day to day activities is always filled with unique and exciting challenging situations (Allen, 2008). Working as an event manager is very challenging and dynamic as they are always required to design events that can appeal to all the different audiences who attend the conference, manage the different stakeholders, ensuring the safety of everyone who attends the event, limiting the impact of the environment on the activities that will take place, budgeting and delivering everything required on time. Over the past few years, event management has been making tremendous growth. For one to be a successful event manager, he or she is supposed to poses excellent designing, communication, and planning, marketing and innovative skills. The individual must be able to deal with complex situations and always think out of the box (Brown Campbell, 2003). Spatial Analysis Scenario a-small conferences, 2 days Organizing of small conferences is mostly done by a small number of people, groups, companies or communities. Such a conference does not really require a huge budget. The reason for this is because when it comes to getting the space or venue to run this conference, there are always plenty of options. These conferences can be held in churches, community libraries or even a school hall at a considerable lower fee or sometimes even for free. It is very important to think of the venue details before holding any conference like this one. The details that we should always be concerned with may include: How those who will be attending the conference are going to be navigating during the conference. We should thoroughly have a general layout of the room that the attendees will be meeting. Details like whether the room is conducive enough to hold such a conference. The other thing to check is the catering area like for example, how beverages and food will be distributed during this conference if there is any plan for that. We must picture out how the attendees are going to think at each point they navigate at the venue. Going through our itinerary is the surest way to remove all our doubts (Chheda Chheda, 2013). Scenario b-Medium sized Conferences, 3 days When it comes to having a midsized conference, we must be able to know when this conference is scheduled to take place especially if we are involved in the organizing committee. We must know the number of people that are expected to attend this meeting so as to enable us to shop for an appropriate venue that is nice and befitting enough for the conference. We must choose a venue that favors those who will be attending, for instance the venue should at least at a place where all the delegates can reach at a reasonable. However, for those delegates coming from far, we must organize on how they will attend the conference and where they will spend during the conference. We can liaise with people who major in transportation of guests and also with the hotel to provide for accommodation. The venue for this conference should be admirable and attractive to the audience in attendance (Winter, 2012). Scenario c-Major International Conference, 5 days When it comes organizing an international conference, there is always need to put in place a very experienced organizing committee to organize for it. International conferences are attended by many delegates hence this requires a bigger conference center that can host such a number. The organizing. Such conferences are attended by well known people in the world hence there is need for proper and thorough scrutiny of any venue that is expected to host such a conference. There must be enough space. Many stakeholders need to be consulted in coming up with the best way to host it. All roads leading to the venue must be well mapped. The participants must be provided with the map of the venue to enable them locate it more easily (Grayson, 2015). Functional Requirement Analysis Scenario a-Small Conference, 2 days Small conferences unlike the midsize and major conferences do not require very many things in order for them to be successful. Requirement analysis entails frequent communication with the people who will be attending the conference so as to tell them about the main agenda of the conference meeting. Requirement analysis helps to document all the aspects that this type of conference needs. All the energy must be directed towards achieving the main goal and objective and agenda of the conference meeting. The final preparation of such a conference must conform to the needs of the audience that will be in attendance. To successfully achieve these goals and objectives, there needs to be a combined team effort especially from the organizing committee and its chairperson (Wright, 2013). Scenario b-Medium Sized Conference, 3 days Like just in the small conferences, all the people attending this conference must be communicated to so that they are well acquainted with the venue, the main agenda of the conference meeting and also the main things that is required of them. Compared to the small conference, communicating with those attending a conference like this may be people from different places in a country. In such a situation, we may have to send an invitation note to those that are required to attend detailing the main agenda of the conference meeting, the number of days that the conference will be held, their accommodation and so forth. We must put everything in place so as to achieve the functional requirement of the conference meeting (Gandolfo, 2014). Scenario c-Major International Conference, 5 days The functional requirement analysis for an international are very enormous compared to the midsized conferences. Some of these functional requirements include; planning of the conference contents; crafting a vision and agenda for the international conference; the organizers of the event are must adequately publicize the international conferences so as to get many sponsors and participants to come and attend; the venue where the conference will be taking place must be well organized by making sure that everyone who attends the conferences has a place to sit comfortably and participate; there should be enough security for the event due to the magnitude of the conference. This can be well achieved through contracting different stakeholders like the government, which for instance has the capacity to provide excellent security during the event. The government can also help by providing other things like equipment to be used during the whole event. Operational Requirements Scenario a-Small Conference, 2 days Unlike the midsize and international conferences, small conferences do not often have many operational requirements to adhere to so as to carry on with a particular event. This is because most of such small conferences can easily take place in a smaller space, which means the organizers of such a conferences may not really need any permission from different authorities. Most of the time they only talk to their host for example, schools, churches and other community facilities that may be used. For these conferences to take place, they only need permission from the heads of such institutions. Another thing about these conferences is that they do not need much budgeting hence there is no need to have a big organizing committee. However, because of the two days duration of this conference, the organizers might have to come up with ways on how to cater for meals or alternatively the attendees can provide for themselves (Friedmann, 2003). Scenario b-Medium Sized Conference, 3 days For a midsized conference to be successful, we need to put in a place an experienced organizing committee to plan for the whole event and also not to forget a professional in that field as this type of conference may involve many stakeholders. Over five hundred delegates can attend such a conference. This essentially means that much funding must be pumped in to make it a success. We must purchase some things like drinks; food or alternatively, we should contract suppliers or even the hotel or organization to provide for catering services to the delegates in attendance (Segar, 2009). We must also come up with a plan on how the conference is going to run from the start to the end. For this organization to also be successful and also make sure only the attendance of only those who are supposed to, there is need for ticketing of all the members who want to attend the conference. The organizing committee can also reach out to charity organizations that are willing to chip in some finance into running of the conference. In simple terms these organizations can act as sponsors of the function by either providing money or equipments to be used like projectors, speakers or even catering services (Gottlieb Gottlieb, 2016). Scenario c-Major International Conference, 5 days According to (Mizker, 2015) running any international conference is no doubt the biggest headache for any organizing committee that is charged with the responsibility of running such an enormous event. For any international conference to run successfully, there are some important things that must be there. Some of these operational requirements include; presence of adequate security, the venue of the international conference must be well accessed by everyone e.g. the blind, those who are unable to walk. Arrangements must be there to ensure all these people also attend the conference. Special equipment must be availed to special people like the blind and dumb to enable them to fully participate in the event; the organizing committee must also find people who will be directing the people during the conference, from the alighting stage to the venue and so forth; the conference must have an exhibition area or convention floor where all the vendors and sponsors of the conference will be promoting their services and products. This area needs a significant commitment by the organizers when it comes to both resources and time. Therefore, the organizing committee must be ready to meet all the needs of the different many suppliers. Conclusion It is important to know that conferences serve to bring together different people who are known to have a common interest in a particular topic or subject. These people come together to discuss ideas and issues that are connected to that particular topic. For any conference to be successful, it requires adequate planning, resources and intensive time. This can be successful if only the right people are chosen for the task. References Allen, J. (2008). Must-Dos For Improving Your Essay Writing Skills
Most writers could stand to improve their essay writing skills. Thats because essay writing is an art honed over time and with practice. Though some people may be naturally good at writing, a good essay is more than that. It requires a tight, well-defined thesis, and a developed argument thats simply stated and uses credible research to back it up. And of course, the artistry of writing requires precise vocabulary, transition words and active voice. If youre in need of some improvements in your essay writing, here are some areas to focus on: Read more One of the first things you can do to improve your essay writing skills is dedicate more time to reading. The more you read, the more youll be exposed to different styles of writing. Eventually, youll identify qualities that you want to adopt in your own writing. Do research before you write Its important to do all of your research before you write. You should take notes while doing your research, but the actual essay writing should only come later. Make sure your ideas have had time to mature enough before you start trying to put them together. Be patient and take things one step at a time. If youve done all of your research and taken good notes, the arguments youll use should be fairly easy for you to define. Rushing into the writing process prematurely can mean you have to change your arguments as you come up with more research. This will make for a jumbled essay in the end. Avoid repetition Writers often make the mistake of repeating the same word or group of words too many times in their essays. This causes boring reading. Use a thesaurus to see what other words you can use to capture the same idea. If there is no replacement for the word(s) youre writing, try using third person pronouns more often (he/she/it/they) or abbreviations for long titles. Example: The Council of Elders of the Cherokee Nation met in January to vote on whether or not to allow a mining company do a land survey on their reservation. The Council of Elders of the Cherokee Nation voted against granting permission. The mining company attempted to file a law suit and the Council of Elders of the Cherokee Nation held a meeting at the city hall. A better version: The Council of Elders of the Cherokee Nation met in January to vote on whether or not to allow a mining company do a land survey on their reservation. They voted against granting permission. The mining company attempted to file a law suit and The Council held a meeting at the city hall. Cite facts, statistics, dates and expert opinions Using numbers and statistics gives credibility to your argument as well as creates an impact. Which of the following statements has a stronger impact? There are far fewer polar bears in the Yukon today than there were a few decades ago. Vs. The population of polar bears in the Yukon has been reduced by 1,000% between 1980 and 2010. Citing the opinions of experts in the field also allows the reader to trust the rest of your observations. Example: The devastation of the polar bear population in the Yukon is one of the most severe of any species on the planet. Vs. Dr. Sheffield from the University of Toronto gave a speech at a convention on wildlife conservation where he lamented that ââ¬Å"few places on the planet have suffered such severe loss of a single species as in the Yukon.â⬠Improve your vocabulary The more words you know, the more variety of words you can use in your essays. Simple math. A more ample vocabulary can provide you with the tools to write more interesting essays. It can also help you acquire a higher level of precision in your arguments. For example, if youre writing about bee-keeping, you could use the word ââ¬Å"apicultureâ⬠which is the technical word for bee-keeping. If youre writing about religious cults, you could use the word ââ¬Å"indoctrinateâ⬠which means ââ¬Å"teach a person or group of persons to accept a teaching uncriticallyâ⬠. Precise language helps you economize on explanations. But know when to keep it simple Writing with precise language is one thing. Showing off is another. Dont litter your essay with sophisticated vocabulary words. Dont use ââ¬Å"insouciantâ⬠when you could use ââ¬Å"indifferentâ⬠or ââ¬Å"turgidâ⬠when you could use ââ¬Å"tediousâ⬠. You dont want to force your reader to reach for the dictionary every few sentences. The majority of readers wouldnt bother. You want your essay to be readable to the layperson. The feature of your essay is your argument: if you present it simply, it will be easy to grasp. And thats one of the goals of good essay writing. Use transition words Transition words are key to guiding the reader from one argument to the next. They help improve the essays readability and flow. Some transition words to incorporate in your essays: However Furthermore Moreover Nevertheless Also Including On the other hand In spite of Check out this site for a comprehensive list of transition words and when to use them. Use active verbs Writers often fall into the trap of using passive voice in their essays. Try using active voice instead. Its more direct and gives more life to your sentences. Example: The research done on nuclear energy has left many questions still unanswered. Vs. Nuclear energy research still has many questions to answer. The last surviving member of the Terena tribe had died the year before. Vs. The last surviving member of the Terena tribe died in 2014. Use a writing app Since we live in the digital age, there are apps that can tell you how your essay can be improved. Try one or all of the following: Hemingway highlights problem areas of your essay with color coding for things like passive voice, adverbs, complex sentences and more. Grammarly advanced spell checker and grammar checker as well as plagiarism detector. ProWriting Aid checks for grammar, style and readability.

Absent Joining Chain Effect on Immune Response
Absent Joining Chain Effect on Immune Response Critical Review of a Journal Kallberg, E. and Leanderson, T., 2006. Joining-chain (J-chain) negative mice are B cell memory deficient. European Journal of Immunology, 36, 1398-1403. Overview The journal article falls under the main subject area of cellular immune response, where the effect of the absence of joining chain locus on T- cell dependent immune responses on mice was explored. While the authorsââ¬â¢ previous study establishes the production of impaired IgM secretion from mice with inactivated joining chain locus, (Erlandsson, et.al., 20010), this particular study further investigated such findings in detail by determining the exact genetic background of the mice. Thus, this particular study aimed to further validate the authorsââ¬â¢ previous findings on early crosses of mice with absent joining chain and its concomitant effect on T-cell dependent immune response. The T- cell dependent B cell responses were analyzed using four experiments, namely: the immune response t o the hapten 4-hydroxy-3-nitrophenyl and chicken gamma globulin (NP-CGG); analysis of the ratio between NP-specific ÃÅ¡ and à » antibodies; analysis of somatic mutations, and carrier priming experiment. It was found that mice with absent joining chain loci are deficient in ââ¬Å"T helper cell activation during T cell ââ¬âdependent B cell immune responsesâ⬠, (Kallberg and Leanderson, 2006). This study was aptly technically described and appeals to an audience in the medical field such as immunologists, physicians, laboratory and clinical directors, etc. It consists of the following format: abstract, introduction, results, discussion, materials and methods, acknowledgements and references. Introduction The title appropriately indicates the effect of J-chain deficiency on B memory, which is the focal point of this study. Its well structured abstract completely and vividly presented the major points and the conclusion of the study. The objective, which can be found in the la tter part of the introduction, however, was not clearly identified in the abstract and the text, but needs to be carefully ascertained by the reader. Results The experimental results of the four experiments produced findings that correlate to and support the hypothesis of the study, i.e., J -/- mice have compromised T-cell dependent immune response. The specific findings are as follows: Joining- chain deficient mice have compromised secondary immune response to 4-hydroxy-3nitrophenyl. Although J -/- mice responded in the same way with the control group during the analysis of serum IgG anti-NP at all time points, there was a wide difference observed on after the 14 th day point, which was clearly supported and plotted in the graph (Figure1). After the secondary response to NP-CGG, it was found that the recall response in mice without joining chain loci are lower than the control animals, which was further correlated to a lower number of B memory cells. All raw data of the resu lts pertaining to these findings were well supported by graphs (figures1-3). Mice without joining-chain have inefficient repertoire switch Results showed that only 30% of the NP-binding antibodies in J -/- mice were expressed, while 90% of the antibodies of the control animals were expressed, confirming the negative effect of the joining chain on the efficiency of T-cell immune responses. This was supported by a bar graph of the results and a graphical illustration of the NP expression on splenic B memory cells.

Canadian & US Immigration and Discriminition Essay
Canadian & US Immigration and Discriminition - Essay Example Therefore, around the globe many people eyes on the developed countries as a staircase towards their dreams. They believe that being in a developed state will provide them with proper job opportunities and a reward that is equivalent to their efforts. This partly may be true, but the first step of immigration is a big hindrance and may itself be a discouraging factor. Developed countries like United States and Canada have their own policies of immigration. Some may be beneficial for the immigrants while some poses a challenge to their existence. These negative aspects of these two countries immigration policies can be attributed to the fact that most developed nations are not very receptive to immigrants. A lot of discrimination exists on the bases of original nationality of the immigrants and various other factors. The paper will highlight and compare the difference in these policies and how they might discriminate on various bases. History of immigration in Canada and America: Both Canada and America are major recipients of immigrants from all over the world. As the statistics show that both of them accepted over 12 million immigrants between the period of 1960 to 1980 (Borjas 1991). This was a result of various changes in the policies implemented by the governments in the early 1960s. Before this period both the countries had a policy to issue only very few visas based on the nationality of the applicant. For example in the United States national origin quota system influenced the immigration policy prior to 1965 amendments. There was a definitive discrimination as Asian were only allocated a very low percentages of the total available quota. Most of these accepted immigrants were from European countries, Germany and Russia. Now we know that the source of immigration is an important factor that can determine the skills of the workers. This is partially due to the fact that cultural and social aspects of any country mould an individualââ¬â¢s talent. A sing le cultural immigration, therefore, caused a decline in the diversities of skills present in both countries. After 1960 both United States and Canada started to accept immigrants from diverse nations. US evolved a policy that allocated visa permits to those immigrants with relational ties to the residents of US. Whereas Canada initiated issuing visas on the basis of applicants observable socioeconomic characteristics (Borjas 1991). So overall these transmutation in the policies of both countries attracted workers with diversity of technical skills that aid in the economic development of these countries. US and Canadian immigration policy 1960 to 1980: The amendments made in 1965 in United States immigration policies abolished the national origin quota system and introduced a more versatile approach in allocation of the visas to the immigrants. These amendments influenced immigration system for the next two decades. Total number of visa allocation was increased to 270,000 and no more than 20,000 can be issued to the origin of a specific country. This is was totally in contrast to the earlier policies where most percentage of the visas was allocated to only few specific countries. Moreover, about 80 percent of those total visas were given to those with close relational ties with the US resident. This in particular was an important amendment because it

Revelation Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words
Revelation - Essay Example The comprehension of Flannery Oââ¬â¢Connorââ¬â¢s battle with lupus, as well as her belief in Roman Catholic ideologies, adds to the appreciation of her writing. This paper will use the biographical theory to critique Oââ¬â¢Connorââ¬â¢s short story Revelation. Oââ¬â¢Connorââ¬â¢s background influenced her writing of Revelation. The plot centers on Oââ¬â¢Connorââ¬â¢s experiences and thoughts, for instance, a notable inspiration of her story is her Southern upbringing. In her lifetime, Southerners were prejudicial towards people on account of their races and lifestyles. Southerners believed that people less fortunate than them were inferior to them, thereby, labeling people as different things. Southerners offered Oââ¬â¢Connor necessary images to construct the characters, for instance, in Revelation, character identification occurs on the basis of their physical features and race. For example, Mrs. Turpin makes racially prejudicial statements referring to chara cters such as a classy woman as ââ¬Å"well-dressed and pleasantâ⬠, a teenager as ââ¬Å"uglyâ⬠, a poor woman as ââ¬Å"white trashâ⬠and her black workers as ââ¬Å"niggersâ⬠. The characteristics that Mrs. Turpin uses to label characters exemplify Oââ¬â¢Connorââ¬â¢s Southern lifestyle. ... However, the most substantial influence on Revelation is Oââ¬â¢Connorââ¬â¢s religion. Religion is one of the most prominent themes of the story. Oââ¬â¢Connorââ¬â¢s Catholic heritage is the main influencer of this theme. Similar to other authors, Oââ¬â¢Connor appears fascinated by the subject of the actuality of sin, as well as its effects on humans. Through the story, Oââ¬â¢Connor demonstrates reality and personal qualities as determinants of peopleââ¬â¢s destiny and fate, which ultimately uncovers social truths. This background, a plausible plot, convincing characterization and viable literary devices, enable Oââ¬â¢Connor to develop themes such as religion and the essence appreciating people for their deeds rather than exterior. In order to develop these themes, Oââ¬â¢Connor establishes a credible plot using social conflict, an unhappy ending and the element of surprise. Revelation has both minor and serious social conflicts, for instance; the minor confli ct is essentially between Mrs. Turpin and the woman dubbed white-trash. This conflict emanates from Mrs. Turpinââ¬â¢s belief that she is of a superior socioeconomic rank than the other woman. The storyââ¬â¢s serious conflict is between the teenage girl and Mrs. Turpin, which accelerates in the story, particularly through Mrs. Turpinââ¬â¢s facial expressions and rude gestures and remarks towards the teenager. For instance, Mrs. Turpin considers the teenagerââ¬â¢s face as the ââ¬Å"ugliest face she has ever seen anyone makeâ⬠(Oââ¬â¢Connor 394). In order to develop the storyââ¬â¢s themes further, Oââ¬â¢Connor uses clear motivation, plausibility and unswerving behavior to fortify the storyââ¬â¢s convincing characterizations. Mrs. Turpin is always curious and observant of those around and victimizes other characters. Mrs. Turpin gains her

Hamlet as the Complete Man :: Shakespeare Hamlet
Hamlet as the Complete Man Tragedy, Shakespeare had come to see when he was writing Hamlet, is a kind of consecration of the common elements of man's moral life. Shakespeare introduces the common man in Hamlet not for what we are apt to think of as his "commonness" but for this strange power however you care to name it that he possesses-we have used art, or virtue, or we might have borrowed from Henry James "the individual vision of decency." In Tragedy there is no longer a Chorus moving round the altar of a god; but if Proust is right the spectators are still participants in a supernatural ceremony. Perhaps I may put the aspect of Tragedy I wish to keep before you more clearly by drawing on Professor Harbage's study of Shakespeare's ideal man. Collecting the approving references he finds that this ideal man is soldierly, scholarly, and honest. If these men seem to lack the larger idealism that is so common and abundant in our own generation, there is no suspicion that Shakespeare's men will fail to back with their own skin their apparently modest programs. As Professor Harbage says: "All soldierly, scholarly, honest men are potential martyrs -you can substitute for "martyrs" tragic figures. Of that Shakespearean type Hamlet is the ideal. Shakespeare had before him in Saxo and Belleforest what was presented as an ideal type. This type Shakespeare transformed. To what may be called the instinctive wisdom of antiquity and her heroic passions, represented so impressively by Hamlet's father, Shakespeare has united the meditative wisdom of later ages in Hamlet himself. The re is no surrender of the old pieties, and the idea of the drama comes from the impact of new circum1stances upon the old forms of feeling and estimation; there is a conflict between new exigencies and old pieties, that have somehow to be reconciled. The play dramatizes the perpetual struggle to which all civilization that is genuine is doomed. To live up to its own ideals it has to place itself at a disadvantage with the cunning and treacherous. The problem Mr. Chandler (1) sets his hero is infinitely complicated in Hamlet-to be humane without loss of toughness. The hero must touch both extremes: without one he is just brutal, lacking the other he is merely wet.
